Wal-Mart has recently announced its offer of a cool quarter million to anyone interested in starting a charter school in Columbus. No word on whether students and non-unionized teachers will have to wear blue vests and greet people at the door as they enter.

They don’t build them like they used to– Historic Ohio Avenue Elementary, built in 1898 is now open for business.

CCS is now picking up Treasurer Michael Kinneer’s pension payments to the School Employees Retirement System of Ohio to the tune of $14,175 per year.

This CCS teacher strives to break down age-old prejudices of students and their families toward…Math!

Students and teachers at Livingston @Beck Elementary School are participating in the second year of a quasi-expeditionary program through a partnership with the Grange Insurance Audubon Center.

Superintendent Harris confirmed fewer CCS high school students are taking art, physical education and technology courses at the most recent Columbus Board of Education meeting.

At that same meeting, the idea of waiving the required half credit of Physical Education to high school students who are enrolled in marching band or are on an athletic team was brought up by Superintendent Harris.

CCS is contemplating putting an operating levy and a bond issue on the ballot in the next general election.

Meanwhile, increase utility costs and charter school enrollment are taking a bite out of CCS’ finances.

[…] WalMart is opening a charter school? Out in Ohio. They understand the politics better than some other people, I guess. I mean to blog more about this, just haven’t gotten to it. […]
