afl-cio_logo.jpgAll unions in both the private and public sectors nationwide face an increasingly steep uphill battle each time they sit down at the table with management to renegotiate their contracts. Issues that involve union members include decent raises, maintaining core job benefits like quality health care and affordable prescription drug coverage, assuring job security, securing pensions and beating back attacks on our unions, including restrictions on collective bargaining rights, legislatively imposed merit-pay systems and paycheck protection schemes.

Approve The AFL-CIO Partnership: Democratic And Independent

afl-cio_logo.jpgBy joining the AFL-CIO Labor Solidarity Partnership, the CEA will partner with the strongest labor organization in the country, yet remain an independent organization when it comes to governance and representation. Both the Solidarity Partnership and the AFL-CIO Constitution guarantee our autonomy; no one from the AFL-CIO can interfere in our internal governance.

Support Labor Solidarity Agreement: Strength In Numbers

afl-cio_logo.jpgMore than 130,000 teachers in Ohio belong to the Ohio Education Association, our state affiliate-another 30,000 belong to the Ohio Federation of Teachers. Both groups do an excellent job of advocating for their members’ best interests in the field of education, a considerable voice in a state with a population of 11 million. Yes On Labor Solidarity Partnership

afl-cio_logo.jpgIn the spring of 2006, the National Education Association and the AFL-CIO signed the historic Labor Solidarity Partnership Agreement. Years in the making, this agreement allows NEA locals, such as the Columbus Education Association to affiliate directly with the national AFL-CIO, as well as join AFL-CIO labor councils and state labor federations.
