The South Western City Schools Board of Education approved new contracts for administrators and the support staff of the district. Negotiating has not been going as smoothly for members of the South Western Education Association (SWEA), who recently authorized their bargaining team to issue a strike notice. The district and teachers’ union have not been able to reach an agreement in their negotiations process since the authorization. If SWEA were to go on strike the union would have to give a 10 day notice of the strike, according to the Ohio Revised Code.
Both the Hilliard Education Association and the Hilliard Board of Education have requested that federal mediator intervene in their contract talks.
